In all clubs, there are members who selflessly give to others of their time and energy without any expectation of reward, the Club awards aim to recognise their achievements and thank them for their selfless dedication to RPYC.
HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP
The constitution states: 5. (1) Upon the nomination of a majority of the General Committee of the Club for outstanding services rendered to the Club a member may be elected as an Honorary Life Member by a majority of at least two thirds of the Honorary Life Members and Senior Members present at a General Meeting. 5. (2) An election pursuant to clause 5 (1) of the Constitution shall be by way of a secret ballot.
HORACE RUMBLE
Horace Rumble award recipients are nominated and approved by General Committee. The criteria is as follows: “Horace Rumble award was created to recognise very exceptional service or achievement by Club members or those non-members who serve or have served the Club in a paid or honorary capacity who, through personal effort or achievement brings exceptional honour to the Club, the sport of yachting generally, or as a non-competitor, has served the Club over many years in a yachting related capacity.”
COMMODORES COMMENDATION
Introduced in 2002 by Commodore Gary Griffiths to recognize members who have contributed significantly to the Club over the recent past. The contribution may be as a starter, general volunteer etc.
CORINTHIAN MEMBERSHIP
First awarded in 2005. “to recognise the achievements of Members who have obtained success in International Yachting”
