Recreations Skippers Ticket

The Western Australian Recreational Skippers Ticket is a must have for everybody who wants to drive any vessel including yachts with a motor larger than 6hp. The process of obtaining your RST should be a fun and stress free experience, so we have developed a number of models which achieve these aims. Additionally you will gain greater competence by choosing the model that best suits you.

I have some experience and access to a small boat: yours is a very simple pathway, just follow the steps below.

  1. Obtain a current copy of the RST Workbook which you can pick up from a Department of Transport Licensing Centre or download from their website here.
  2. Study the Theory chapters and be comfortable with the Sample questions at the end of each chapter, more quizzes are available on the DoT website.
  3. Study the Practical Skills section towards the back of the Workbook and get out on the water with a friend and practice the skills. Make sure that your friend checks your performance by referring to the assessable criteria listed for each skill.
  4. When you are happy to proceed, just contact Chris Goldacre at the Club to arrange a time to complete the assessments. You will need to allow two hours for the process. Cost: $130

I have no experience but I do have access to a small boat: yours is still a simple pathway, just follow the steps previously listed however you will need to devote more time to practicing the Practical skills. It is best to spend plenty of time to ensure that you are definitely covering all of the criteria listed for each skill. Cost $130
